Title
Creative masks
Method
Independent self exercise
Materials
- (Unused, surplus) COVID masks (surgical masks) made from paper or similar materials
- Colours that stick to different surface of the masks with brush or spray
Preparation
Collect materials as above, take a room where you can move around
Time for preparation
about 15 minutes
Tips for implementation
What should trainers take in consideration -do not use masks if they are in short supply, -then use alternative materials. And also keep in mind that the protection factor is lost with making the masks wet or changing them in other ways. Do not use masks that might carry a virus or use unused masks, but not many, and do not use the masks for protection after their creative use. If going out, consider local rules.
Resources/References
Our senses get dulled, when we attach the same uninteresting or even irritating meaning to most objects in our surrounding, but changing the perspective on something and finding a completely new and unconventional use or meaning can stimulate our creative inspiration and start this process as a new approach to everyday live.
Learning outcomes
Through this method/action, these benefits are achieved:
- See your environment with new ideas as playground for creativity, reuse objects you want to throw
- Realise that no long-term training or expensive technology is necessary to become creative
Description in clear steps
- Select a mask or similar object following the guidelines (tips)
- Paint it in a way following inspiration
- Put it on and take a picture (in a group, take a tableau with everyone in the group and his mask)
- Feel if and how you change your own perception, if you put up the mask and put it in your face (or try it on a teddy or other figure you might have…)
- Start a little theatre play with the role you can take up with the mask
